MERG-E FOR REAKTOR 6.5

MERG-E is an instrument for Reaktor 6.5 designed for sonic exploration through samples, built around multiple simultaneous playback heads (up to 8), a system of loop slots, and a focused chain of sound-shaping processors. Suited for creating textures ranging from hyper-digital, lo-fi, broken, cinematic, chaotic, and artifact-rich, to minimal, static, cyclic, and evolving micro-looped structures, depending less on presets and more on interaction and real time control.

DYNAMIC SOUND LAYERS

Its Dynamic LAYERS (up to 8 ) architecture allows complex variations to emerge fluidly from a single source, enabling continuous transitions between sonic states without breaking the creative flow. Micro-loops, offsets, and subtle phase relationships become an integral part of the sound rather than isolated effects.

LOOP SLOTS

Store up to 8 different loop memories for the same sample, each with its own start and end settings. This adds an important performative aspect to the instrument, as loops can be recalled via MIDI notes, either using a MIDI keyboard or by sequencing them in your DAW.

DRAG & DROP

Loading samples in MERG-E is straightforward: locate any .wav or .aif audio file and drag it into the drop area. The amplitude visualizer and waveform display will update automatically to reflect the newly loaded sample.

SAMPLE PROCESSING

Apply frequency shifting, skipping, flutter, and crushing using dedicated processing stages such as grain delay, moving between lo-fi, hi-tech, and textural territories, and shape the result further with spatial effects ranging from subtle to vast.

USER FEEDBACK

Felix Petrescu Image

"I fed it a small chewy field recording, something ordinary, almost embarrassed, and it began multiplying like a rumor in a dusty village where the moon still keeps grudges. The loop didn’t stay clean. It sweated. It split into crooked siblings. One dragged its feet. One whispered backwards. One carried a faint trace of cheap wine and something burnt at the edges. Bueno. That's the 'Brutti, sporchi e cattivi' I like to play with in the sound favelas. One scrap goes in. A slightly indecent landscape walks out. ¡Hechicería!"

"MERG-E swept me away with how easily it uncovers new and unexpected material from any sample. Sounds seem to take on a life of their own, sometimes reshaping into animated versions of themselves, other times transforming into mysterious, evolving landscapes. The controls are intuitive and open up a lot of creative possibilities. I’ll often find beautiful sweet spots in one sound, and then with another, conjure dramatic mutations using a MIDI controller. I never feel restricted and I can shape and manipulate the sound, without that sense of feeling locked in or restricted."

"My objective with MERG-E is to develop new methods for the ability to create new forms of insight from its original sauce of the sound. To maintain its own identity and preserve the intentions of the original material. By bouncing things out, rendering out, importing back in and resampling. When modifying towards a new medium one should focus on the elements exclusively to that form. MERG-E helps me achieve my needs when it comes to the granular and texture department. Happy accidents for days."
